Radio Controlled Scale Sailplanes

Large scale sailplanes are often launched by aerotowing with a powered model.   The picture shows our 4.1 metre wingspan Jantar 2 waiting to be launched by a scale Wilga power model.  The Jantar is equipped with release mechanisms for both aerotow and winch, so can  be launched by either method.

Scale models can be large and at international events it is not uncommon to see examples at one third of even half full size.

Models like this use similar construction methods and have comparable performance to the full size.  They really are miniature aircraft.
